Export price calculator: from FOB to the local shelf price

Enter a FOB price to see what it sells for on a local shelf after freight, duty, import costs, distribution margins and VAT. Or enter a target shelf price to get the highest FOB you can quote.

The price builds up from FOB → price at the destination port (freight and insurance) → landed cost after duty and import costs → importer selling price → (distributor selling price) → shelf price → VAT. Margins are a share of each party’s selling price. Duty starts at 0%, except the US, where most Korean goods pay a combined 12.5% from 24 July 2026. Seaweed snacks and other seaweed preparations sold to Japan start at Japan’s general 25%, because Korea has no RCEP rate for them. Clothing sold to Japan starts at Korea’s RCEP rate (mostly 6.8% for knitwear), and bags and shoes at Japan’s WTO rate because they have no RCEP rate (8% for handbags, 30% for leather shoes); knit sweaters and T-shirts sold to the US start at the normal 16.5%, because KORUS needs the yarn to be Korean too. For countries without a Korean FTA, the page asks you to look up and enter your rate. VAT uses each country’s standard rate (reduced rates for food and supplements); the US and Canada add sales tax at checkout, so their shelf price is shown before tax. Default margins vary by product group, and every assumption can be changed. For products sold to businesses, such as equipment, parts and medical devices, the ladder stops at the price the importer charges the end user (a clinic or factory that uses the product), before tax, because business buyers usually reclaim VAT.
