This is not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so confirm with the official source and a local authority, your importer or an expert before you sell.
- India foreign factory registration (FSSAI): Factories making dairy products, meat, poultry, fish and seafood, egg powder, infant food or nutraceuticals for India must be registered on FSSAI’s foreign food facility portal (ReFoM) before export, on top of the importer’s licence and the clearance of each shipment. Your company does it · fssai.gov.in, checked 2026-10-13
- India food import clearance (FSSAI): Your Indian importer needs an FSSAI import licence and clears each shipment through FSSAI’s online system with document, label and sample checks; at least 60% of shelf life (or three months, if less) must remain at import. Labels need the importer’s name and address, the FSSAI logo and licence number and the vegetarian (green) or non-vegetarian (brown) symbol, which can be stickered on in a bonded warehouse. Done with your importer · fssai.gov.in, checked 2026-10-13
