Duty and FTAs: Every line of this heading is duty-free in Canada under the Korea–Canada FTA (KRT in the 2026 CBSA Customs Tariff) with proof of Korean origin; without it the MFN rate applies (up to 11%). cbsa-asfc.gc.ca, checked 2026-10-15
This is not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so confirm with the official source and a local authority, your importer or an expert before you sell.
- Canada front-of-package ‘High in’ symbol: Prepackaged food sold in Canada must carry the front-of-package nutrition symbol (‘High in’ saturated fat, sugars or sodium, Schedule K.1) on the principal display panel when a nutrient reaches the threshold per serving or reference amount: 15% of the daily value for most foods, 10% for foods with a reference amount of 30 g or less, and 30% for main dishes of 170 g or more (Food and Drug Regulations, section B.01.350). Check salty products such as ramen, sauces and dumplings against the sodium threshold before you print Canadian packaging. Your company does it · laws-lois.justice.gc.ca, checked 2026-10-15
- Canada food importer licence (SFCR): Only a Safe Food for Canadians licence holder, with a preventive control plan and traceability records, can import food into Canada, and the licence must be in place before the shipment reaches the border; Korean companies generally cannot hold one as non-resident importers, so sell through a licensed Canadian importer. Mandatory label information on consumer prepackaged food is in English and French. Your importer does it · inspection.canada.ca, checked 2026-10-13
- Canada: from Korea, only fully cooked chicken products: Canada accepts meat products from South Korea only from establishments CFIA has approved, and for animal-health reasons only fully cooked products made from chicken, so pork or beef dumplings, buns or sausages made in Korea are not accepted. A vegetable-only line follows the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. Your company does it · inspection.canada.ca, checked 2026-10-15
