- Main rule for leather apparel & accessories: Household Goods Quality Labeling Act: leather travel and business bags (not handbags or wallets) and leather apparel and gloves need Japanese labels (material, care, labeller). Leather apparel and gloves: azo amines 30 µg/g or less. caa.go.jp, checked 2026-10-09
- Japan azo-dye limit for clothing and textiles: Japan limits azo dyes that readily form any of 24 specified aromatic amines to 30 µg per gram for each amine (in force from 1 Apr 2016) in clothing, underwear, socks, gloves, hats, bedding, towels and similar textiles, and in leather or fur clothing and gloves.
