- UK ban on paid online ads for less healthy food and drink: From 5 Jan 2026 the UK bans paid-for online ads for identifiable less healthy food or drink at any hour, and TV ads for it before 9 pm. A product is in scope when it falls in one of 13 categories, such as soft drinks and drink powders with added sugar (3-in-1 coffee mixes included), savoury snacks (seaweed-based snacks and rice crackers included), confectionery, sweet biscuits, cakes, ice cream and ready meals, and scores 4 or more for food (1 or more for drinks) on the UK nutrient profiling model. It binds food and drink businesses with 250 or more employees, franchises and symbol groups included, that pay for the ad; food supplements and ads that show no less healthy product are outside it. Score the recipe before you plan paid social in the UK. Applies from 2026-01-05 · Done with your importer · gov.uk, checked 2026-11-04
