Who replies, by country: importers, distributors and other buyer types
Pick a country to see which buyer type replied most to Korean exporters’ sales emails there: importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers or brands.
For each country and buyer type, we take the share of contacted buyers who wrote back in person. The base is an anonymous aggregate of 2,236,056 sales emails that 909 exporters sent through RINDA. Cells with few contacts depend a lot on luck, so they are pulled toward the overall average, and rows are ranked by the low end of the 90% range. That way a type that got a lucky reply or two does not end up on top. Multiples are against the all-industry average (7.0 replies per 1,000 buyers contacted). To keep individual companies hidden, cells with fewer than 5 companies are left out.
- Everyone emails distributors. Why do they reply less? In this data, distributors are the most-contacted buyer type, yet across all countries they reply at 0.92× the average. Brands (1.86×), wholesalers (1.53×) and retailers (1.47×) reply more. The numbers do not tell us why. The order differs by country, so start with the types that reply well in the country you picked.
- What do Proven, Promising and Average mean? Proven means even the low end of the 90% range is above average, so the type beats the average even with bad luck. Promising means there are too few contacts to be sure, but the high end is above twice the average. Test it with a small batch first. Average means no clear difference from the average.
- My country has no rows, or only one. There are not yet enough contacts in that country to measure each buyer type. Use the all-country ranking shown alongside it. Rows appear as more contacts build up.
- Will my product get the same reply rate? This table combines all industries. Average reply rates differ by industry, so check the expected replies for your product, by its own industry, in the export market finder or the one-page plan.
