This is not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so confirm with the official source and a local authority, your importer or an expert before you sell.
- Main rule for furniture: Composite-wood formaldehyde limits (TSCA Title VI, labelled compliant); STURDY tip-over standard for dressers and other clothing storage units; Lacey Act declaration for wood; children's furniture needs CPSIA testing. epa.gov, checked 2026-10-09
- US children's product certificate, lab tests and tracking label: A product made mainly for children 12 and under is a children's product in the US: the US importer must issue a Children's Product Certificate based on tests by a CPSC-accepted third-party lab for each rule that applies (for example lead, and phthalates at no more than 0.1% in plasticised parts of products that help children 3 and under eat or sleep). The product and its packaging carry a tracking label (maker or importer, place and date of production, batch), and importers of most regulated products file the certificate data electronically with CBP at entry from 8 July 2026. Budget the lab test before the first shipment. Done with your importer · cpsc.gov, checked 2026-10-19
